Who is Afflicted?
Psalm 88
Isaiah 63:7-10 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of Yahuweh, and the praises of Yahuweh, according to all that Yahuweh hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 8For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour. 9In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. 10But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
Zephaniah 3:12-13 will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of Yahuweh. 13The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
Job 36:21-22 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction. 22Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
Psalm 22:22-26 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. 23Ye that fear Yahuweh, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. 24For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard. 25My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. 26The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise Yahuweh that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
Psalm 25:15-18 Mine eyes are ever toward Yahuweh; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.  16Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted. 17The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses. 18Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
Psalm 66:8-12 O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard: 9Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.  10For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. 11Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins. 12Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
We see in these scriptures God Himself brings affliction upon us because of OUR transgressions. Under the New Covenant He is faithful to afflict us, in order to write His laws upon our hearts.
Psalm 119:75 I know, O Yahuweh, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
Oh but Jesus paid for all that! Yes, if you walk in the Spirit! When you take communion and fell to judge yourself, then God is FORCED to judge and chastise you.
Father by the Blood of Your Son let not iniquity rein over us. Let your lovingkindness be seen as we walk in Your Spirit and bondage, sickness, and oppression are broken, Your mercy seen in us. Halle lu YAH!
